Less Sexy, More Practical Apps
“Snapfinger”
Here’s a very practical app that solves a problem EVERYONE is familiar with…the at times ENORMOUSLY annoying process of ordering takeout. Finding the number, calling, being put on hold, the noise in the background, the repeating of the order, the timing of pickup, the “do you think they got our order right?” question etc
Impressive stats on incremental order size vs the traditional approach.
Although $7M seems like more money than they might really need to scale the business, it does seem to be a large opportunity.
Being a LARGE BUYER of social commerce and location enabled capabilities, REALLY dig this aspect:
“People can search for restaurants nearby, order and pay from their phones. There are tools for group ordering for an office lunch, ordering favorite items with one click and getting location-based, limited-time coupons.”
As a marketing guy, not so sure about the “snapfinger” name…reminds me of country club geezers being less than cordial to waiters and waitresses but hey, maybe that’s just me.

Thanks to Travis Williamson for forwarding…and no, I don’t work for the NYT, they’re just putting out great stuff lately! ;)
